Gaggenau presented 'Presence' during Milan Design Week 2026 in the glass pavilion of Villa Necchi Campiglio. The German brand created an installation where architecture, appliances, and experience are integrated into a single narrative. The concept transcends the traditional exhibition, transforming the space into a sensory experience where design, materials, and perception are articulated in a cohesive way.

Architecture, rhythm and material as language

'Presence' is conceived as a spatial sequence defined by rhythm, proportion, and light , inspired by Italian modernism and classical antiquity. As the visitor moves through the space, the architecture builds a progressive experience that fosters clarity and focus.

Developed in collaboration with the studio 1zu33 and executed by Conduk, the installation presents a journey where each element responds to a precise logic. Architecture ceases to be a mere support and becomes an active part of the discourse , integrating form, matter, and perception into a single interpretation.

Household appliances integrated into the architectural design

Gaggenau appliances are not presented as isolated objects, but as part of a global composition , integrated into the structure and revealed along the route. Their presence is defined by their relationship with the materials and the architecture.

The Expressive series oven is situated around a travertine staircase, while the Minimalistic series is framed by backlit glass surfaces. Vario plates and refrigeration systems are integrated into basalt, charred wood, or brass , reinforcing a design language where design and materiality define the experience.

A sensory experience that connects design and gastronomy

The culinary dimension is an essential part of the experience , developed in collaboration with three-Michelin-starred chef Tohru Nakamura. Throughout the week, the gastronomic experience complements the architecture, enhancing the perception of the space.

The facility also hosts private meetings and dinners for architects and designers, establishing itself as a space for networking. Gaggenau thus expresses an idea of refinement based on proportion, material, and precision , where design is understood as a complete experience that extends beyond the product itself.
