The curved island as the new axis of domestic space
Each Arclinea project begins with a dialogue between space and form, and Kora represents an evolution in this line of inquiry. The island is conceived as a central element with a curved geometry that breaks with the rigidity of traditional compositions, lending a sculptural presence to the space.
Its sinuous lines allow for visual continuity that facilitates the integration of the kitchen into the architectural space. This solution reflects a consideration of use and circulation, allowing for a freer and more adaptable layout within the contemporary domestic space.
As Antonio Citterio explains : “Over the years we have worked on innovating the kitchen space, especially the island. With Convivium we combined table and island, creating a new balance between height and functionality. With Kora we sought another evolution: an island defined by curved forms that introduces greater fluidity to the space and allows for more flexible placement, without orthogonal limitations. It arises from a reflection on space rather than on the object; a space that embraces and makes form possible.”
Materials and continuity in kitchen design
Kora presents the Italia door, characterized by its integrated metal handle, and incorporates marble as the main material within the collection. In this version, the handle is carved directly from the stone, reinforcing the design's character and its handcrafted nature.
The model is also offered with the Thea door, in a more minimalist interpretation that maintains the overall formal coherence. This is complemented by finishes in wood, PVD, and polished steel, which add depth and precision to the surfaces.
Stone takes on a structural role in the project, extending from the countertop to the side panels. This material continuity reinforces the perception of volume and defines the identity of the kitchen system.
Integrated tables and new dynamics in the kitchen
Around the island, a system of tables expands the kitchen's usability. Models like Folia, Vesper, and Orbita can be integrated with the island or function independently within the space.
Their organic shapes and balanced proportions maintain coherence with Kora's design language, creating a continuous visual whole. These pieces allow the space to be articulated beyond the strict function of the kitchen.
The addition of tables like Lapis, designed as a high table, introduces a more dynamic use linked to socializing. In this way, the kitchen is transformed into an open environment where preparation, dining, and interaction coexist.
Technology and evolution of the current cooking system
The proposal is completed with Teca, the evolution of the integrated kitchen preservation system. Designed to be integrated into the overall design or to function independently, it combines technological innovation and construction quality.
The system incorporates improvements in connectivity, app control, and operation geared towards acoustic comfort. These features ensure proper storage conditions and a more precise user experience.
The interior, crafted from steel and walnut, reinforces the attention to materials. Alongside Teca, solutions like Teca Madia and Teca Epicure expand storage options within the modern home.

Founded in 1925, Arclinea 's history is intertwined with the evolution of lifestyles, reflecting a process of social and cultural change that has shaped both Italy and the international scene. The company, founded by Silvio Fortuna Senior, began producing kitchen furniture in 1960 and in 1963 introduced Claudia, considered the first kitchen with integrated appliances . From the 80s onwards, Arclinea began collaborating with external designers, consolidating its relationship with Antonio Citterio in the following decade, who would become the brand's main creative force.
Over the decades, Arclinea has adapted to changing trends, combining technical and functional precision with innovation in form and space. Since 2016, it has been part of a strategic alliance with B&B Italia and, since 2018, with the Flos B&B Italia group, solidifying its position as a global benchmark for premium design and an ambassador of Made in Italy in the contemporary kitchen sector.
