Organized by iF International Forum Design GmbH , the iF Design Award is one of the world's most prestigious design awards. Since 1954, it has recognized projects that stand out for their excellence in design, innovation, and quality, establishing itself as a benchmark in the international design landscape.
In this edition, the international jury, composed of 129 independent experts , evaluated more than 10.000 entries from 68 countries . This context highlights the high level of competition for the award and reinforces the value of the recognition achieved by GINA35 within contemporary kitchen design.
GINA35: A kitchen conceived as an architectural piece
The award recognizes GINA35 's ability to reinterpret the kitchen space through a design where technical precision and aesthetic sensibility coexist naturally. For REKKER, this recognition also holds special significance: the brand, founded as a family business and deeply rooted in the carpentry trade, understands design as a collective process.
The design stems from a profound reflection on matter and proportion. Its name refers to one of its defining structural elements: 35 mm thick fronts and doors , a dimension that establishes the visual and physical identity of the collection and structures the entire compositional system, where each piece is the result of many hands and accumulated experience.
Proportion, material, and visual richness of the whole
More than just a measurement, the 35 becomes a proportional system where 7mm legs and 10,5mm curved sides maintain a mathematical coherence based on multiples of this dimension. This approach generates a balanced and precise composition, where each element maintains a clear relationship with the whole and reinforces the formal identity of the collection.
The fronts and doors are presented in Inalco's MDi , a high-performance mineral material that stands out for its resistance, durability, and stability under intensive use. This finish is combined with stained and milled solid oak , while the Umbra finish introduces a play of grain and brown, reddish, and black tones that reinforce its character and visual richness.
Craftsmanship, construction detail and care for the craft
One of the most distinctive aspects of GINA35 is the application of rounded edges and smooth transitions between materials , a formal feature that provides visual continuity and a more organic feel to the space. These curves are harmoniously integrated into the central island, cabinets, and work surfaces, creating a more fluid and ergonomic spatial experience.
The kitchen also showcases the craftsmanship that characterizes the brand. The interiors incorporate drawers assembled with dovetail joints , a traditional joinery technique that guarantees greater structural strength and reflects the attention to detail present in every piece.
